Sleep Issues May Be Easy to Fix With Food

Sleep difficulties can take several different forms. Let’s look at one.

If you have trouble falling asleep at night, one easy solution is to eat a small portion of carbohydrate, preferably starch, about an hour or so before bed. Starch examples include quinoa, potato, rice, sweet potato, pumpkin, oats, even pasta.

Starches stimulate insulin, and insulin allows a specific amino acid (tryptophan) to reach the brain. When tryptophan reaches the brain, it’s used to make serotonin.

Serotonin relaxes us and allows us to fall asleep. It’s also converted to melatonin, the sleep hormone. Melatonin has the additional benefit of anti-inflammatory action, which is one reason sleep is so good for us.

What If It Doesn’t Work?

If you try starch and still can’t fall asleep, another suggestion is to start your pre-bed food ritual with a little bit of turkey, which contains a relatively high amount of tryptophan. Eating carb together with turkey will have the same effect that you may have experienced after a Thanksgiving dinner – feeling sleepy after the meal.

Although turkey is usually blamed for that sleepiness, the tryptophan wouldn’t reach the brain readily if we didn’t eat carbs with it. Several larger and more abundant amino acids compete with tryptophan for brain entry. In effect, they block tryptophan and prevent it from reaching the brain.

Those competing amino acids are used to form dopamine and norepinephrine, which make us alert.

How Carbs Help

When carbs trigger insulin release, the insulin transports amino acids throughout the body. They can then be used for the various functions that aminos are used for: formation of antibodies, hormones, receptor sites, enzymes, and more.

At that point, tryptophan – smaller in size and less plentiful – can reach the brain. It can then be converted to serotonin.

Why Starches? Why Not Sugar?

Some people tend to crave sugar before bed, but eating it can backfire for a couple of reasons.

Sugar triggers the release of endorphins and dopamine. As mentioned above, dopamine is a brain alertness chemical, so it could wake us up, rather than allowing us to fall asleep. Some people are more sensitive to the dopamine effect of sugar and might find themselves “wired” after eating sugar.

Starches, in contrast, tend to produce relaxation without that wired feeling.

Another Problem With Sugar

Another way sugar can backfire has to do with glucose. This could wake us up in the middle of the night.

Sugar tends to trigger high insulin secretion. That effect is much more pronounced in some people than in others. (Those people are called “carbohydrate sensitive”, but don’t be confused by the name. We’re still talking about sugar before bed, rather than starch.)

In someone who is sensitive to sugar in this way, the extra insulin might cause glucose levels to drop very low. It might seem as if the low glucose would make someone so tired that they’d stay asleep all night and even having trouble waking in the morning.

Instead, the drop in glucose tends to cause us to wake up in the middle of the night and have difficulty going back asleep, even if we feel tired.

So starch again seems to be a better solution.

Bottom line

Eat protein throughout the day, and eat less protein with your dinner. Eat a small portion of starch about an hour or so before bedtime. Add turkey if it doesn’t work. Avoid late-night sugar.

11When it comes to keeping your heart healthy, there are certain foods that, depending on your level of heart health and risk levels for heart disease, you should either avoid, or eat in extreme moderation. Artery-clogging foods can be some of the worst food culprits and can have adverse effects on your overall heart health.

Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the Unites States alone. It includes a variety of conditions, including stroke, clogged arteries that may cause cardiac arrest or require bypass surgery, high cholesterol, heart attack, and premature death.

If the following ten foods are a part of your everyday diet, it could lead to some serious problems for your heart.

1.) Red Meat

Red meat is an animal protein that is high in saturated fat, and is not good for your heart when eaten in excess. It’s okay to have steak in moderation, but it should be something you treat yourself to a couple of times a week, and not a part of your daily meals.

Lean and/or extra-lean sirloins, round roasts and sirloin tips are some of your best once-in-a-while red meat choices for a healthier heart. It is also a good idea to trim the fat off your steak; this is the white marble portion of the steak or roast.

Broiling or cooking on an open flame are healthy cooking methods because they allow the fat to drip off the meat, as opposed to frying where the meat sits in its own fat in the pan.

2.) Processed Meat

Processed meats like bacon, hot dogs, sausage, and even deli meats are high in sodium, fat and may contain many preservatives. They often include added nitrates and nitrites, which have both been linked to causing certain heart problems. Processed meats also have more saturated fat and less protein than any self-prepared meats.

3.) Pizza

Doughy, cheese covered, pepperoni laced pizza pies contain about 2/3 of the maximum daily recommended saturated fat amount, and most pizza ingredients, especially take-out pizzas, are processed foods that are chock full of sodium.

It is much a healthier option to make your own pizza at home where you control the ingredients. Some options include, using, whole-wheat thin crust, fresh vegetables, lean chicken breast, fresh tomatoes or homemade tomato sauce and low-fat cheese.

These options greatly improve the health factor of pizza so you can still enjoy it without it threatening the health of your heart.

4.) Fettuccine Alfredo

Alfredo sauce itself is full of saturated fat and calories, since it is a combination of butter, heavy cream, and cheese, then there is the white pasta, and none of the ingredients provides any impressive nutrients.

Most people eat this dish at a restaurant, and here is what you get with Olive Garden’s Fettuccini Alfredo entrée, this is without chicken, which most people order:

1220 calories (675 from fat)

75 grams of total fat (115% daily value)

  • 47 of which grams are saturated fat (235% daily value)

1350 grams of sodium (56% daily value)

WOW! Look at those numbers! Can you never eat it again? No, of course, moderation is key, but if you love it, you can make a healthier version at home that you can enjoy more often.

Use whole grain pasta and make a homemade Alfredo sauce with either plain yogurt or low-fat milk and cheese, and add some fresh veggies to the mix for an added nutrition boost.

5.) Trans Fats

Trans fats are fatty acids that are created through the processes that make vegetable oils more solid (hydrogenated). They are cheap to create and they are often used in processed foods that are prepared and/or pre-packaged to have a longer shelf life. They can also be re-used for frying purposes.

Trans fats raise your bad LDL cholesterol levels and they lower your good HDL cholesterol levels. This is what puts your heart at risk. Read the labels and reduce trans fat intake, the American Heart Association recommends 1% or less of daily calorie intake from trans fats.

6.) Fried Foods

Many restaurants tend to reuse their frying oils many times over again, causing the fat to become more and more saturated. How you fry food makes a huge difference. Shortening is one of the worst, and a number of restaurants still fry with it.

Fried foods in general are never recommended for heart health; choose healthier cooking methods, like grilling with heart-healthy olive or canola oil.

7.) Soda

Heavy intake of refined sugar causes type 2 diabetes and obesity, both of which are huge risk factors for heart disease. Soda can spike your insulin levels by such a high amount that even if you drink only one can per a day, you can increase your risk of suffering a heart attack by up to 20%.

Choose green tea, ice tea, plain or flavored water or seltzer instead.

8.) Ramen Noodles

The cheap meal of ramen noodles has up to 1500 milligrams or more of sodium in each serving. What you save in dollars, you pay for in cholesterol levels and heart disease risks.

9.) Fast Foods

Many fast foods are full of trans fat; saturated fat, sodium and/or sugar, and the effects on your heart are almost immediate.

According to a 2012 study, after only one fast food meal, the dilation ability of your blood vessels drops by as much as 24%. A cheeseburger alone can have up to 1000 calories.

10.) Eggs Benedict

Eggs combined with the English muffin, butter and fat-filled Hollandaise sauce, not to mention the addition of Canadian bacon, delivers nearly 700 calories and about 35 grams of fat, not heart-healthy at all.

What Happens If You Compare the Planet With Your Own Body Energies?

meditateEven though only a few have the ability to see energies, we can all feel the flow of energy when we are in love, having sex, feel on top of the world or on the bottom of a pit hole. We are ‘feeling beings’. But because it is not so easy to see, I want to tell you about my insight that might help you see what you sense.

Our energy body is like that of our planet. She has an equator, meridians, she has wind blowing her surface, she has an aura and she has energy centers around her globe.

Does the planet have meridians?

The meridians, are exactly like the ley lines, you probably have heard of them before. These lines are very accurate and electro-magnetic in nature (positive, negative and neutral), they connect from point A to point B and never move. They transport energies where they are needed and sometimes even leave a trace on the skin of the earth. In our body they transport energies through our entire body. When they are blocked, you start to feel it in different ways like for instance tiredness, feeling weak, dull or depressed. When the blockage won’t go for a longer period of time, it can produce illness and pain. The ley lines of the planet are also known for its effects on humans, but it is not yet scientifically researched as far as I know or could find on the internet.

The aura of the planet is absolutely incredible and the Polar lights give us some insight into her beauty. The Van Allen Belts are like a skin in the form of an apple that protects our planet from influences that can invade us from space. This form is exactly like our aura. The apple shape springs from our head like a fountain and moves inward and up again at our ankles.

Equator is the belt around your waist

The equator is the middle line that divides Earth in the Northern hemisphere and the Southern. (Notice that wé have two hemispheres as well, maybe you can even recognize a difference in people and their brains above and below the equator.) Our own equator is called the belt flow, which is a radiant circuit I will speak more of in the next paragraph. It is connecting your upper body and your lower body. Especially with ladies you see that this flow is often blocked. Their lower body is barely communicating with the upper body. When this flow is healthy, you feel sexy and attractive, you are comfortable in your skin and you can feel stable on your legs and on the ground.

Radiant winds are blowing our minds

The radiant circuits I spoke of in the beginning of this article and in the last paragraph, are like the winds. They are moving energy in different directions on the surface of our Earth, but they tend to have a common direction on specific locations. As you often experience in your own country, the wind is free, but it flows in patterns. Mostly it blows in one direction, but in a certain period of time, it changes. The basics of the wind system of the Earth is well explained in the next video.

The wind brings new weather, new moods, sometimes it caresses your skin or blows your mind. The wind has an enormous influence, but we hardly recognize it… it is so familiar and part of our daily life. Yet it is such an inspiration, when you give your senses a chance to feel and enjoy them anew.

Can you influence your body’s energy?

Yes you can! There are many ways to influence your body’s energies. A very legitimate question is, why should you? Well, here is because. You are actually, often without being conscious of it, energetically influenced all day long. Just as the planet is influenced by processes in the universe (solar flares, meteorites, star positions etc.), your own energy is also bombarded with impulses from outside (emotional reactions, toxins in the air, electromagnetic waves from devices etc.) and your aura is protecting you. When you have to handle too much stresses from inside and out, your aura gets weakened. When that happens, viruses and other intruders can enter quite easily. So to make sure that your energy systems are strong and balanced and thereby are able to handle stresses from outside ánd inside more effectively, you can do all kinds of energy work. Think of yoga, tai chi, qi gong, do-in, but also sports and certain games can help. Taking a shower, sleep, drinking water, eating natural, being outside in the sun and in nature enough are all very helpful in balancing your energies.

Love for Earth

As you now start to see, there are quite some similarities between Earth and your body and I am just starting to compare a couple of systems. Isn’t it giving you a sense of joy, being a part of and living in this great place? Feel love for Earth? (Did you realize that HEART and EARTH contain the same letters?) I myself can feel an overflow of gratitude looking at the complex simplicity of the Universe. And I hope I have given you a bit of that as well with this article.

Curing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Through Dream Therapy

healthy-heart-e1395869781212I will give you an example to show you that even a difficult case can be easily cured when the dreamer is religious.

I cannot tell you various important details about the dreamer’s life, but I can tell you that she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, and I can also show you a part of what is happening in her daily life without exposing the dreamer.

You will understand why the dreamer’s religiosity helped her. I will show you the beginning of one of the first dreams she had submitted for translation:

‘I am part of a very long line of people, I am with my father, my father is behind me. Suddenly, I do not see my father anymore, I notice that I am behind a co-worker, both, he and I are wearing a yellow sweater.’

Dream translation:

‘I am part of a very long line of people, I am with my father, my father is behind me.’

You represent your ego in dreams.

These people are parts of your personality.

This line is formed by the various parts of your personality that are waiting their turn to control your behavior.

Your father represents your one-sided human conscience based on only one psychological function well developed and another one half-developed, from the four psychological functions you have at your disposal: thoughts, feelings, sensations, and intuition.

The fact that your one-sided conscience is behind your ego in this line means that your conscience is waiting its turn to control your behavior after your ego, and after all the other parts of your personality that are in front of you.

‘Suddenly, I do not see my father anymore, I notice that I am behind a co-worker,’

Your one-sided conscience stopped waiting its turn to control your behavior because it saw that you would do what it wanted, when it saw the coworker in front of you.

This coworker represents a mature part of your personality. Your ego is behind him because this part of your personality will manage to control your behavior before your ego.

‘both, he and I are wearing a yellow sweater,’

The sweater represents a protection, and also your social image – the image you show to the world about who you are. You show to the world that you are protected and this part of your personality does the same.

The yellow color represents the truth.

Your ego and this part of your personality are showing to the world that you are saying the truth, but the color of an object is only an impression, it can be a false image.

You seem to be sincere, and you seem to show the truth about who you are to the world. You are protected by your sincere social image.

However, your ego must control your behavior, and not the other parts of your personality that are waiting in line.

Let me relate this dream to the previous day:

‘About what happened the day before, I do not remember, the last 3 weeks have been difficult at work, dealing with my boss and co-workers is hard. There is a war of egos. The medication I was taking for panic attacks was affecting my cognition so I decided to stop taking it, as a result of the abstinence syndrome I had difficulties doing some math calculations and that led people start making fun of me in my face. It’s been a nightmare but God has helped me to get rid of unnecessary egoistic desires that would make things worst.’

You have to be patient with your colleagues. You also have to keep translating your dreams so that you may get rid of your panic attacks.

The medication you were taking was not helping you and its side effects were causing more problems. Panic attacks must be eliminated through psychotherapy.

The meaning of dreams is symbolic. Your coworkers represent parts of your personality. This dream is about your behavior, and not about the workplace.

I’m using her example not to give you lessons of dream translation, but to show you that the dreamers who have a positive attitude and believe in God make progress fast, independently of the severity of their mental illness.

This dreamer was one of my best patients. She already finished her treatment. She also learned the dream language, and today she translates her dreams herself.

Sometimes she submits a dream for translation when she has an intriguing dream or when she must deal with a challenging situation because she wants to be sure that the translation is correct, but she was basically cured.

If you knew her life biography and the problems she had to deal with during her childhood, you wouldn’t believe that someone who had such experiences in life could be a logical person.

Other patients have traumatic experiences that are not as serious as the traumatic experiences this dreamer had, but their conscience is so weak that they acquire a severe mental illness like bipolar disorder or multiple personality disorder, which is many times worse than PTSD.

You should be religious and respect the lessons you had because religion is medicine.

If you don’t believe in God, today you have scientific proof of His existence because the dream language was clarified thanks to my simplifications, and you can verify that God works like a therapist for you.
God surely exists, since He works hard all the time. He gives you important information, and He answers your questions in dreams. Today you can understand His words in the dream images, and verify that these words are meaningful and wise.

Therefore, wanting or not you have to believe in God’s existence. This is a fact.

You will be intelligent if you will respect your religion. Your religiosity will help you follow dream therapy faster, and you will have positive results in a short period of time.

How You Can Have a Better Brain in 60 Minutes or Less

It’s an easy way to help boost your brain health. Everyone can do it. And it’s not just a relaxing way to recharge. Doing it every day has proven it can improve your memory and learning.benefits-of-juicing_grande

Researchers in Germany gave subjects 90 single words to study. They also assigned 120 unrelated word pairs to memorise. So instead of “milk-cow,” they used “milk-taxi.” This helped give more accurate results, since it eliminated familiarity. Each participant then took a memory recall test.

After finishing the test, half of the participants did this relaxing activity for up to 90 minutes. The others watched a movie. After, they performed a second memory recall test. The results? Subjects who did not watch a movie were five times better at remembering the word pairs. That meant their associative memory improved.

It wasn’t that the movie made one group’s memory worse. It’s that another activity led to a major increase in their cognitive performance. It took even less effort. It’s something we all wish we could do more of. So what’s the simple activity I’m now talking about?

NAPPING:

The study found taking a quick nap or siesta sparked activity in the hippocampus which is a small region of the brain that plays a big part in strengthening one’s memory. Researchers saw an increase in what they call ‘sleep spindles’. These bursts of brain activity during sleep help regulate memory consolidation.

Previous research revealed an increase in sleep spindles helped enhance emotional memory, meaning they help you remember things you have an emotional tie to. Things like having your first baby, your wedding anniversary or grandchild’s birthday/christening.

A nap may not fit in to your current nine to five work schedule. Or you may think you’ll feel more tired when you wake up, or that you’ll become less productive. But the health benefits of catching up on more sleep far outweigh any cons. According to Dr. Mednick “napping bathes your brain in the neurotransmitter serotonin which creates a positive outlook”. Napping also gives your brain a chance to rest and your body a chance to heal.

Taking a 20 minute afternoon siesta 8 hours after you wake up will boost your stamina more than sleeping an extra 20 minutes in the morning.

Scientists state that a lack of sleep can double your risk of a heart attack and stroke, and that losing sleep can also lower one’s testosterone by 15%. However, the good news is that getting more sleep may help prevent you from developing Alzheimer’s disease. Do Not Read Labels!

Food manufacturers have always been guilty of preying on our fears relating to food, but it seems to be ramping up even more in the past couple of years. It started many years ago with an abundance claims such as “light” and “no cholesterol”, followed by “no trans fat” and “low carb”, and now everything on earth is “gluten free” or “lactose free”, even HAM!! Wait a minute. Ham? Well, thank goodness for gluten free pigs I suppose. I threw my hands up in despair when I saw a display of pears, and the sign accompanying it said “100% Organic Grass Fed”. I think it would be quite a bit of fun watching a pear trying to eat grass.

Food manufacturers are permitted to get away with an awful lot in terms of what they put on their labels. Much of the phrasing they use are left up to our interpretation, which is why it is important to truly evaluate each label for yourself. Think it through. Here are a few hints about some of the tricks we seem to be falling for:

Gluten free: Maybe so, but many gluten free products are full of so many other “garbage” ingredients to help hold the product together, that we would have been better off with the gluten. We have all seen a version of the “gluten free’ cauliflower pizza circulating on Pinterest, Instagram and various foodie sites. It relies on huge amounts of artery-clogging cheese to bind the “crust” together, so of course it tastes delicious!

Multigrain: Not necessarily better. Check to see how much fibre is actually in most “multigrain” breads, etc. Often not very much, because these grains are as processed and denatured as most white products. And “brown” bread? It is basically just white bread, with a couple of drops of caramel colouring to make it look a bit darker.

No sugar added: This does not mean the product isn’t high in sugar already. It usually means that the product is already so sweet, that more sugar is not necessary to make it taste sweet. It is already there!

No trans fat: One of those phrases used on products that never did contain trans fats, but it is used to make us think it is something that has been removed. Remember though, many products that contain “good” fats can become trans fats, if the product requires that you bring it home and cook it at a sizzling high heat.

Free range: This means the animal has some access to the outdoors, but does not necessarily mean it pecks seed and lives a happy little life. The animal could be kept in a cage the majority of the time, but if it has access to wander around for a millisecond or two, food suppliers can use this on their labels.

Fat free/Low Fat: This doesn’t mean the product isn’t high in calories. In fact the opposite is usually true. Fat makes food taste good. Without it, manufacturers have to use other ways of making food taste nice. Sugar is the usual “go to.” Most fat free and low fat products rely on large quantities of sugar and other garbage to make things taste good. And the easiest way to get the “percentage” of fat a bit lower on a tub of yogurt? Add a bit more sugar; the percentage of fat goes down. And so on. “Fat free” is also used as a distraction for products that are almost completely sugar. Check out most packages of sugary candies. A package of “gummy worms” for instance will almost always say “fat free.”

All natural: Another terribly misleading phrase. Many products contain corn syrup, corn starch, etc, but because corn itself is natural, manufacturers have the green light to use “natural” on their labels. Take a look at a tub of ice cream. Ice cream is known to contain dozens of poisonous chemicals, but throw in a vanilla bean to flavor it, and voila! It is also given a pass to use “natural ” on its label.

Cholesterol free: Another example of telling us something isn’t in the product, even though it never was in the product. “Cholesterol free” potatoes? No kidding!

Light: This is a very common trick. The problem here is that the word “light” could be referring to just about anything. It could be referring to the taste being light, or perhaps the colour of the product is lighter than another.

The bottom line is that we need to use our heads. Manufacturers of food products have only one objective and that is to sell us their products. The laws around wording on food labels are ill-defined, so don’t assume “they” are on your side. They aren’t!

The “Fear Of Failing” and Diabetes – Overcoming And Understanding This Destructive Emotion

From the beginning when the doctor pronounced these words to you, “You’ve got diabetes” you should have had so many wonderful successes and discouraging failures that you can’t stand it. Remember, the diet worked for a while, how great, but exercise made it worse – then it made it better. Next were those “side effects” from the prescription drugs. What a string of horror. Then there is an ever-present threat of stronger drugs or being put “on the needle.”

Processing these all ups and downs can make you nuts. After a while most people come to a truce with this entire goings on. You know, it seems like we don’t really win, we just slip sideways and go downwards slowly. We get scared. It’s normal. But it is what can happen next that is dangerous.

You start off just a little scared. Then, the very site of the prescription bottle, or the blood meter or diabetic commercial on TV gives you a “flight or fight” reaction. Clearly, it is a natural reaction, that is, if a Colorado Black Bear just broke into your front room – but sweating and shaking is not really an appropriate reaction to a pill bottle or your TV.

The Fear of Failure
This unreasonable reaction to everything diabetic begins to deny you even the very life-saving actions you need to maintain your health, much less the determination to keep trying new things. This unreasonable fear that haunts you might include the simplest actions like reading about a new diet or a successful supplement. This fear builds into this Emotion called “Fear of Failure.” Indeed, it has a life of it’s own, and creates a destructive pattern of behavior in you. You have met the devil. You are now paralyzed by fear.

Driving this devil out of your life

Breaking or destroying this new emotion or bad euro association has several steps:

1) The first step is recognizing that “you truly do have this problem emotion, “Fear of Failure.” And that it is blocking you and your success. It is preventing you from exploring the world for more alternatives and finding those people who have succeeded and can help you.

2) Next, you simply “Decide,” with your brainpower, that you will cancel, stop or break this emotion now. The mere understanding of what is happening to you might be enough to make this stop in days. (Remember it’s a serious impediment to your life – but it is not a big Grizzly Bear tearing up your kitchen, and you maybe you next!) My friends, you can deal with this diabetes.

3) After that, you need some serious self-motivation. Get “Leverage” on your self. Understand and think hard about how this fear of failure is damaging your hopes for success in managing or defeating this diabetes. Use this to take the actions towards a different you.

4) Lastly, you need to create a brand new emotion or just “change your state of mind” when this fear starts to paralyze you. Envision; think hard about other diabetics who have had success in reversing their diabetes. Imagine yourself having this kind of success. You are becoming unstoppable in your pursuit of a successful victory over this diabetes. Maybe do something physical like simply standing and then jumping up and down a couple of times, each time you are fighting the emotion and envisioning the new successful you. What Exactly Is Cholesterol?

Those of you who are fighting against high cholesterol and working towards lowering your cholesterol generally have many questions about your cholesterol problems. First things first, you should find out exactly what cholesterol is. Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance produced in the liver and other cells. It can be found in many food products that we consume on a daily basis such as dairy products, eggs, and meats. However, cholesterol is not always bad because our body needs a certain amount to be able to function properly. Our bodies cell walls, known as membranes, need this cholesterol to produce hormones, vitamin D, and other acids that help you to digest fat. These types include high density, low density, and very low density. Each specific type depends on how much protein there is in relation to fat. Low density lipoproteins (LDL) is known as the “bad” cholesterol because it can cause plaque buildup along the walls of your arteries. As your LDL level increases so does your risk of heart disease. On the other hand, high density lipoproteins (HDL) is known as the “good” cholesterol and helps the body to dispose of LDL cholesterol. Maintaining an increased level of HDL cholesterol is a good thing because if your HDL levels are low, your risk of heart disease is increased. Lastly, very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) are very similar to LDL because they are made up of mostly fat and not much protein. VLDL carries triglycerides, another type of fat, which is more specifically the excess calories, alcohol, or sugar in your body that is then stored in fat cells in your body.

Generally speaking, there are a wide range of factors that can affect cholesterol levels. Diet is the main factor that contributes to high cholesterol levels. Saturated fat and cholesterol in the foods you eat leads to higher cholesterol levels and cutting back on saturated fats is key in reducing your cholesterol. Being overweight and not getting enough regular exercise is a risk factor for both heart disease and high cholesterol. By losing weight and exercising, most people will see a decrease in their LDL and an increase in their HDL cholesterol levels. Most doctors recommend trying to be physically active for at least 30 minutes per day. Age and gender is another factor in cholesterol levels because as you get older your cholesterol levels will begin to slowly rise. Prior to menopause, women tend to have lower cholesterol levels than men but during post menopause a women’s LDL cholesterol tends to rise. Individuals who have been diagnosed with diabetes need to be able to understand, control, and manage their diabetes in order to maintain healthy cholesterol levels. In some cases high cholesterol can run in your family and your genes may determine how much cholesterol your body naturally makes.
